Video Guestbook: The Wedding Keepsake You'll Actually Rewatch
The LUNO Events Team
Published · Updated · 5 min read
Ten years from now, you won't reread the signatures in your guest book, but you will replay your grandfather's voice wishing you a long and happy marriage. That is why video guestbooks have become the keepsake couples and families talk about most after the party.
LUNO Video Guestbook turns a tablet into a recording station framed in gold with your event name. Guests pick a prompt, record a short message and watch it back before saving. A video guestbook records a 15- to 60-second message from each guest, framed with your names and date, and gives you every message plus a highlight reel to replay on the big screen.
Quick answer: price, area and booking
Video Guestbook is part of LUNO Labs, our digital event experiences, and is quoted per event. LUNO sets it up at venues across Brampton, Mississauga, Vaughan, Toronto and the areas we serve across the GTA, and it can be added to any LUNO photo booth booking.
1. How a video guestbook works
A guest taps to begin, chooses what they'd like to say from a few guided prompts, and gets a three-second countdown. The message records with an opening title card and a closing card, then the guest watches it back. They can sign it, save it or record again.
Each recording is framed as it's made: a gold hairline border, the prompt as a title, your event name and date, and the guest's voice. Nothing needs editing afterwards.
2. Prompts that get great messages
Blank screens make people freeze. Prompts give guests a starting line:
- Weddings: "Your best advice for the newlyweds" or "Your favourite memory of the couple"
- Birthdays and anniversaries: "What makes them special" or "Your wish for the year ahead"
- Corporate events: "A moment you'll remember working with them" or "Your message to the team"
You can write your own prompts, too, and use the guest of honour's name in each one.
Hosts can untick any prompt they don't want, so the choices stay short and every guest finds something easy to say.
3. Choosing message length and screen shape
| Setting | Options | Our suggestion |
|---|---|---|
| Message length | 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds | 30 seconds for most events |
| Shape | Portrait or landscape | Portrait for phones, landscape for a TV reel |
| Prompts | Wedding, corporate, celebration or your own | Mix two suggested and one of your own |
Shorter messages keep the line moving at big weddings; longer ones suit retirements, where colleagues have stories to tell.
4. Where to place it
Put the station somewhere quieter than the dance floor: near the entrance, in the cocktail area or beside the guest book table. Background music ruins recordings, so keep it at least a room-length away from the speakers. Even light on faces matters more than a fancy backdrop.
- Small table and chair
- Power outlet
- Quiet spot, away from speakers
- Sign: "Leave us a video message"
5. What you keep afterwards
At the end of the night, the hosts get every message and a highlight reel that plays them all in a row. Couples often play the reel at a gift opening or the morning-after brunch, and families share it with relatives abroad who couldn't attend.
Because every clip is already framed with your names and date, there's nothing to edit or title later. Many couples pick their five favourite messages and play them again on their first anniversary.
6. Video guestbook vs audio guestbook
An audio guestbook captures voices on a vintage phone; a video guestbook adds faces and expressions. Grandparents who are shy on camera may prefer the phone, while friends and cousins love the video. At large, mixed-generation weddings, many couples offer both. Our guide to the audio guest book vs photo guest book compares the classic options.
7. Getting more guests to record
- Ask the MC to announce it once after dinner.
- Seed it early: have the wedding party record first so the reel starts strong.
- Add a familiar face: a cousin who nudges guests over makes a big difference.
- Keep it on the path between the bar and the dance floor.
Example: a Brampton wedding with family overseas
Say half your relatives live in India and can't travel. Set up the video guestbook in landscape, add a prompt in Punjabi as well as English, and ask aunties to record blessings during cocktail hour. After the wedding, share the reel on the family WhatsApp group, and relatives abroad hear every message in the voices of the people who were there.
When to bring in a LUNO Labs team
Add the video guestbook when you book your booth or finalise your timeline, so we can plan the station's spot and your prompts. Tell us the names, date, preferred message length and any languages. See every experience on the LUNO Labs page, or contact us to check your date.

Frequently asked questions
How long is each video guestbook message?
You choose the length: 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds. Thirty seconds suits most weddings, long enough for a real message and short enough that the reel stays easy to watch.
Do we get all the video messages after the event?
Yes. You receive every message, plus a highlight reel that plays them all back to back, ready to show on the big screen or share with family.
Can a video guestbook be used for corporate events?
Yes. Corporate prompts work well for retirements, milestones and farewells, and every video is framed with the event name so it's ready to share internally.
