QR Code Photo Booth: Turn Every Guest's Phone Into the Booth
The LUNO Events Team
Published · Updated · 5 min read
What if 150 guests could use the photo booth at the same time, without a single person waiting in line? That is the idea behind a QR code photo booth: instead of one camera in a corner, every guest's phone becomes the booth, and every photo lands in one shared gallery you keep after the party.
LUNO Live Booth is our version, built for birthdays, showers, office parties and weddings from Brampton to Toronto, where space or budget rules out a staffed booth. A QR code photo booth lets guests scan a sign, take a branded photo on their own phone and share it to one event gallery, starting at $50 per event with no equipment, staff or app.
Quick answer: price, area and booking
LUNO Live Booth is $50 per event, plus HST, and includes a custom template with your colours, logo, event name and hashtag. Add a live screen for your TV for $50, and extra screens or kiosk tablets for $10 each. It runs anywhere guests have phone data or Wi-Fi, across Brampton, Mississauga, Vaughan, Toronto and the areas we serve across the GTA. Book through LUNO Labs and you get a template preview within one business day.
1. How a QR code photo booth works
We design your template and send a link, printable QR signs and table cards. Guests scan the code with their camera, choose a print style (portrait, trio, strip or Instagram story), take the photo and save the finished print to their camera roll. There's nothing to install and no account to create.
Each photo also goes to the event gallery unless the guest chooses to keep it private. By the end of the night, you have every guest's photos in one place, not just the ones that happened to land in your own phone.
2. Why hosts choose it over a traditional booth
A staffed photo booth starts around $800 for three hours. Live Booth starts at $50, so it fits a sweet sixteen, a backyard wedding or a team lunch that could never justify a full booth. It also fits rooms a booth can't: a condo party room, a restaurant's private room or a crowded house party where there is no spare corner.
| Staffed photo booth | QR code photo booth | |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | About $800 for 3 hours | $50 per event |
| Space needed | A corner and power | None |
| Lineups | Yes, at peak times | No, every phone is a booth |
| Printed photos | Yes | Saved to phones |
| Attendant | Included | Not needed |
3. The live screen moment
The optional live screen turns any TV or projector into a photo wall. A large QR code invites guests to join, and every photo appears on screen moments after it's taken. It's the part that gets a room laughing together, because guests see their table's photo pop up between speeches.
You need a TV or projector with a laptop running Chrome or Edge, or a smart TV with a browser. Extra screens in another room, or an iPad on a stand for guests without a phone handy, are $10 each.
4. Branding for weddings and work events
Every print carries your design: names and date for a wedding, school colours and "Class of 2026" for a graduation, or the company logo and hashtag for an office party. You can tweak the template until the morning of the event.
For corporate events, approval mode means nothing appears on the screen until you approve it, and any photo can be hidden in one tap.
5. Privacy and the gallery
Each guest decides whether a photo is shared. The gallery stays open for 30 days (90 with an add-on), you can download everything as a zip, and photos are never used for anything else. That clear answer matters to guests at family events and to HR teams at office parties.
6. Setting it up on the day
- Print the QR signs and table cards we send
- Put one sign on each table and one by the entrance
- Check the venue Wi-Fi or mobile signal
- With the live screen, open your screen link on the TV before guests arrive
- Ask the MC to mention it once after dinner
That's the whole setup. Most hosts are done in five minutes.
7. Pairing it with a LUNO booth
Live Booth works on its own, and it also works alongside a staffed booth. At a large wedding, the digital photo booth rental prints keepsakes by the dance floor while Live Booth lets guests at the far tables join in from their seats. Both feed the same night, so nobody misses out.
Example: a 60th birthday in a Mississauga banquet room
Say you're hosting 120 guests, the room has no space for a booth and many relatives are flying in. Put a QR card on every table and the live screen on the venue's projector. Grandparents use the kiosk iPad by the cake, cousins post story-format prints with your hashtag, and the next morning you share one gallery link with family who couldn't travel.
When to bring in a LUNO Labs team
Book at least a few days ahead so we can design the template and send your signs; events within 72 hours can still be booked with a $25 rush fee. Tell us the event name, date, colours and guest count, and whether you want the live screen. See every experience on the LUNO Labs page, or contact us to check your date.

Frequently asked questions
Do guests need to download an app for a QR code photo booth?
No. The QR code opens a web page in the phone's browser on iPhone or Android. Guests choose a print style, take the photo and save it to their camera roll, with no sign-up.
Can a QR code photo booth print physical photos?
LUNO Live Booth makes a print-ready 4×6, strip or story that guests save to their phone. For printed keepsakes on the spot, pair it with a staffed LUNO photo booth.
How long can we download the photos after the event?
The gallery stays open for 30 days, or 90 days with the add-on, and you can download every photo as a zip at any time. Email LUNO to delete an event's photos sooner.
