Bouncy Castle Rental in the GTA: A Parent's Guide

For a lot of GTA families, the bouncy castle is the centrepiece of a kids' birthday party. Put one in the backyard and the party plans itself: the kids bounce, the parents chat and everyone goes home tired and happy. But renting one for the first time raises plenty of questions. How big is it? Will it fit in my yard? What happens if it rains? Is it safe for my two-year-old and her six-year-old cousin at the same time?
If you're a parent renting a bouncy castle for the first time, here are answers to the questions people ask most, for parties in Brampton, Mississauga, Vaughan, Toronto and across the GTA. To rent a bouncy castle in the GTA, choose a castle sized for your yard and your kids' ages, confirm a flat spot with power nearby, plan supervision and a rain backup and book early for summer weekends.
1. Choose the right castle
Castles vary in size, theme and age range. LUNO's castles are designed for kids aged 2 to 6, and include:
| Castle | Size (L x W x H) |
|---|---|
| Monster Castle | 305 x 340 x 240 cm |
| Adventure Castle | 285 x 350 x 205 cm |
| Adventure Plumber Castle | 265 x 300 x 205 cm |
| Candy Cane Castle | 285 x 300 x 230 cm |
| Racer Castle | 285 x 305 x 205 cm |
| Whimsical Castle | 396 x 244 x 244 cm |
Pick a theme that matches the party, then check that the footprint fits your space with room to spare.
Think about the guest list as well as the space. If your party includes kids older than six, plan other activities for them, such as yard games, a craft table or a snack machine, so the castle stays safe for the little ones it's designed for.
2. Check your space
The castle needs its footprint plus a clear buffer around it, room for the blower and a flat surface. Measure your yard before booking, and don't forget overhead clearance: tree branches, clotheslines and overhangs. Our guide to how much space a bouncy castle needs explains the buffer zone in detail.
Most castles go on grass, which is softer and allows the castle to be staked. Hard surfaces need sandbags and protective mats instead.
3. Power
Bouncy castles stay inflated with an electric blower that runs the whole time. You'll need a grounded outdoor outlet within reach, ideally not shared with other high-draw equipment like a popcorn machine or a large speaker. If the blower trips a breaker, the castle deflates, so a dedicated circuit is best.
4. Safety and supervision
Kids should always be supervised by an adult while bouncing. Basic rules include:
- Shoes, glasses and sharp objects off
- Similar-sized kids bouncing together
- A limit on how many bounce at once
- No food, drinks or gum inside
- Everyone out if the wind picks up
Our bouncy castle safety checklist has the full list. LUNO castles are cleaned between rentals, and supervised play can be arranged.
5. Weather
Light rain isn't usually a problem for the castle itself, but wet vinyl is slippery and kids should stop bouncing. Strong wind is the real risk: castles must come down if gusts pick up. Keep an eye on the forecast and have an indoor plan ready. For winter parties, see our guide to indoor bouncy castles.
6. What's included
With LUNO, castle rentals include delivery, setup and takedown. Ask any company you're comparing:
- Is delivery, setup and takedown included?
- How long is the rental period (half day, full day)?
- Is the castle cleaned between rentals?
- Do they carry insurance?
- What happens if the weather forces cancellation?
Ask about the rental window, too. A full-day rental gives you time to set up before guests arrive and lets kids bounce well into the evening, while a shorter window suits a two-hour party. Confirm the delivery and pickup times so you're home for both.
7. Booking timelines
Summer Saturdays are the busiest days of the year for bouncy castles across the GTA, along with long weekends and the end of the school year. Book a few weeks ahead, more for June to August weekends.
8. Pair it with other rentals
Many parents combine a castle with a popcorn or cotton candy machine and balloon décor, or a photo booth for the adults. Make sure you have power and space for everything. See bouncy castle, snack machine or photo booth: what to rent for help choosing.
On the day, clear the setup area before the team arrives: move toys, garden furniture and decorations, mark sprinkler heads and make sure the gate is unlocked. It makes setup faster and lets the kids start bouncing sooner.
Example: a 4th birthday from booking to pickup
Say your daughter turns four in July, and you're hosting 15 kids in your backyard. Three weeks ahead, measure the yard and book the Candy Cane Castle ($200 for a full day, delivery and setup included). The day before, mark the sprinkler heads and clear the lawn. On the day, the team sets up and checks the castle before guests arrive. Parents take 20-minute supervision shifts. After cake, clear the area so pickup is quick.
When to bring in a rental company
Once you have your date, address and a rough idea of your space, you're ready to book. Send photos of the yard if you're unsure about fit.
