Balloon Arch Rental in the GTA: Sizes, Styles and Setup
The LUNO Events Team

A balloon arch is one of the fastest ways to transform a space. Walk into a plain community centre room, a banquet hall or a backyard, add an arch in your party colours and suddenly it looks like an event. Across the GTA, balloon arches frame entrances at first birthdays, cake tables at baby showers, stages at corporate launches and photo spots at weddings. They've moved well beyond the simple rainbow arches of the past, with organic shapes, mixed sizes and colours chosen to match a theme exactly.
If you're planning a party and want a balloon arch at the entrance, the cake table or the photo spot, here's what to know before you book. To plan a balloon arch in the GTA, choose a style and size that suits your space, pick a colour palette from your theme, plan indoor or sheltered placement, book installation close to the event and decide whether the arch will double as a photo backdrop.
1. Balloon arch styles
| Style | What it looks like | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Organic arch | Mixed balloon sizes in a natural, flowing shape | Showers, birthdays, weddings |
| Classic arch | Uniform balloons in a neat, symmetrical arch | Corporate events, school events |
| Half arch or swag | Asymmetric sweep over a backdrop or table | Cake tables, photo walls |
| Full backdrop wall | Balloons covering a backdrop panel | Photo spots, stages |
| Columns | Free-standing balloon pillars | Entrances, aisles |
Organic arches are the most popular style for family parties right now. Classic arches suit events where a crisp, structured look fits better.
2. Sizing for your space
Measure the space where the arch will go: width, height and depth. Entrance arches need to clear doorways and leave room for guests to walk through. Backdrop arches need to frame the cake table or photo spot without crowding it. For indoor venues, check ceiling height and any fixtures that could interfere.
Send us the measurements and a photo of the space, and we'll suggest a size that fits.
3. Choosing colours
Pull your palette from the invitation, theme or outfits. Most arches look best with three to four colours, plus a metallic or clear accent. See our balloon arch colour palette ideas for palettes that work for birthdays, showers, weddings and corporate events.
4. Indoor vs outdoor
Balloons are happiest indoors, away from sun, heat and wind. Outdoors, latex balloons can fade, soften or pop in direct sun and heat, and wind can push an arch around. For outdoor events:
- Choose a shaded or covered spot, such as a tent or porch
- Secure the arch frame firmly against wind
- Install as close to the event start as possible
- Have a plan if strong wind or rain arrives
5. Installation and timing
Most arches are built or finished on site, and installation takes time. Ask your venue when décor vendors can load in, and confirm the arch will be finished before guests and other vendors (like the photo booth team) need the space. For home parties, clear the area and have a plan for where the installer can park and unload.
6. How long it lasts
Indoors, a well-built arch typically looks its best for the event and often a day or so after. Outdoors, heat and sun shorten that considerably. Plan installation for the morning of an outdoor event rather than the night before.
7. Arches as photo backdrops
A balloon arch makes one of the best photo backdrops. If you're booking a photo booth, place the booth in front of the arch, or design a balloon wall specifically for photos. The booth's lights will brighten the colours, and every photo will match your theme. LUNO offers balloon arches and décor alongside our photo booths, so both can be planned together.
Kids love balloon arches, but they also love pulling balloons off them. Place the arch where little hands can't easily reach the lower balloons, or ask for a design with a sturdier base.
8. Pricing and what to ask
Balloon arch pricing depends on size, style, colours and installation. LUNO quotes each arch based on its size, complexity and customization, with installation included. Ask any décor company:
- Is installation and takedown included?
- What size is the arch, and does it include the frame?
- Can you match exact colours?
- How early will you arrive, and how long does setup take?
- Is there a travel charge for my location?
After the event, ask how the arch will be removed and whether the frame is collected by the décor company. Some hosts like to keep a few balloons for the kids; let the team know before they start taking it down.
Example: an arch for a first birthday in a hall
Say your son's first birthday is in a Vaughan banquet hall's party room, with a sage, cream and gold theme. Ask the hall when décor can load in and whether anything can attach to the walls. Choose an organic arch behind the cake table, sized to frame the table with room on each side, and ask for his name in the middle. Place the photo booth in front of the same arch after cake, so every photo matches the theme.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a balloon arch last?
Indoors, a well-made arch usually looks its best for the length of the event and often a day or so after. Outdoor heat, sun and wind shorten that, so outdoor arches are best installed close to the event.
How far ahead should I book balloon décor?
A few weeks ahead for most parties, more for summer weekends and festival seasons. Custom colours and larger installations need extra lead time.
Can a balloon arch be the photo booth backdrop?
Yes. A balloon arch or wall makes a great photo backdrop. Tell us if you're booking a booth too, so the arch is sized and placed for photos.
